Gentle Space Counselling

Bethany Tapp mbacp (she/her) A person-centred counsellor providing a non-judgemental, caring space for those who are searching for self-acceptance and self-love within Lincoln and online.

How counselling can help you

We all go through times when life feels overwhelming.

We often keep pushing through, trying to cope and carry on. However, every now and then, it helps to pause and take a breath. To stop for a moment and really look at what's going on underneath it all.

As a person-centred counsellor, I offer a warm and gentle space where you can talk things through openly. Together, we can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences — helping you make sense of what's been happening and find some relief along the way.

Counselling can be challenging at times, especially when you're working through difficult emotions or experiences. But you won't be alone in that process. I'll listen with empathy and understanding, without judgement, and support you as you build awareness, strength, and resilience — at your own pace.

How I work with you

Making the decision to start therapy can feel daunting, and I understand how much courage it takes to take that first step. My aim is to make the process as easy and comfortable as possible by offering a safe, welcoming space where you can talk and share your experiences without judgement. Whether you've been struggling for a long time or only recently, whether it affects you every day or just now and again - your experiences matter, and they deserve to be heard.

I currently offer virtual individual therapy sessions for adults over the age of 18. Your first session is a free introductory appointment, giving us both the chance to get to know each other and see if we're a good fit. This is an important part of the process — you should feel comfortable, safe, and able to trust me to support you. During this session, we'll also go through the counselling agreement and any practical details, such as how often you might like to meet and for how long (there are no right or wrong answers to this).

All sessions are confidential, helping to create a sense of safety and trust throughout our work together. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and follow their Ethical Framework for Good Practice.

About me

My name is Bethany Tapp, but you can call me Beth (she/her).

I'm a qualified BACP counsellor based in Lincoln.

I've always had a strong desire to help others, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, I decided to follow that calling by training as a counsellor. I know what it's like to feel lost or unsure of yourself, and through my own personal therapy, I've learned the importance of self-acceptance, empathy, and unconditional compassion in becoming a more authentic version of yourself.

That experience has shaped how I work today — with warmth, understanding, and a genuine wish to help others discover who they are and learn to value themselves fully.

Previously, I have worked with a wide range of clients through an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), supporting people facing challenges such as depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, bereavement and loss, relationship difficulties (including divorce and separation), redundancy, caring responsibilities, and chronic illness.
